Read on another forum that a UK customer was told unless he put minimum £25K worth or extras on his soon to be 'specced' car his delivery would be delayed a year... Anyone experience this here?

I'm aware of an infrequent posting PHer who has had this problem with a UK dealer. YHM.

I would think most of this years allocation is filled, and it's easy to do 25k when you spec the exterior carbon, I was told early cars had to have big spec to stick, my dealers demo came out at 253k.

Personally I'd tell them to shove it if that was there stance.......sounds like a great example of really putting the customer first..

Sorry I meant over a barrel..

Pick mine up Saturday week.Just posted a few pics on Speciale thread.
Basic spec is great (carbon fibre driving zone,LED's,shields, alcantara etc) so really no need to add much.I added about 12k the most expensive item being a carbon fibre engine bay that was by no means necessary but as I never intend selling the car was something I wanted.Stripes are pretty expensive but I did not want one.IMHO a well specced car with a stripe and a couple of personal choice goodies can be had for sub £220k.
Nobody ever put pressure on me to add more and my car is in UK ready for delivery next week.
£220k is a huge amount of money but I believe the Speciale is actually great value.

My car is mid 250's but I wanted special order paint and nart stripes which is 20k. That said, I was pressured to add a few bits I did not want. I guess I could have said no. Dodgy behaviour imo

Friend of a friend was told this. He told them to stick it, which I think is fair enough.

The business model at Ferrari has definitely changed a little following the announcement that annual production would be limited in order to preserve exclusivity.Basically they want to sell less cars but charge more for them so getting customers to add extras is top of the agenda.I'm sure dealers have been "trained" to achieve this.
Having said that we are all grown ups and have a choice about where we spend our money. If,however, some dealers are linking delivery date to amount spent on extras that is,IMHO, obviously wrong.
This was not my experience and I was genuinely surprised how much came as standard on Speciale given the new business model.
Quite a few items such as Carbon Fibre Driving Zone with LED's which have been extras on previous models are standard on Speciale.
Maybe I have just been lucky but my experience with Carrs of Exeter (I have no connection with them other than being a customer before anyone asks) has been exemplary.

Don't be surprised by the standard equipment. For the price they are charging for these things, EVErYTHING should be standard. I have an order slot and I just received the 'options' list and was disgusted at the gauging os option prices to the point that I may just skip the car.

The dealers have a target from Ferrari of around €20,000 of extra for every new car they sell of a % of bonus is held back. The dealer target in Europe is a lot lower but Ferrari have the UK dealer wrapped around their little finger!!

Dealer Target is currently £34k average extras per car in the UK. Miss it and lose the back end % bonus irrespective of volume target. Funny how dealer specced cars tend to be optioned up, so the target is in the bag without being dependant on customer specs. Its worth it to the dealer to overspec silly options to hit the target as the bonus is worth way more than nil value options (even if they cost a bucket load).

it's ridiculous. Some European dealers are targeted with €18k's worth of extra. I have to say though generally the used cars for sale over here are rather dull.

Wow shock horror, car salesman trying to upsell customer for a higher commission! What is Ferrari coming to?

Ferrari wern't allowing you a build slot unless you bought a certain amount worth of options, it's a joke.

Yes but surely this isn't 'Ferrari' but the sales tactics of one salesman trying to up his commission?

No, you're not reading what has been written above.

The DEALER is targeted with a value of options they must achieve as an average across all the cars they sell.
Okay but this is standard in all sales environments... why would Ferrari be any different. They sell cars to make money.

It's a 'Target' not a pre-requisite.

no, it is a per-requisite they actually won't accept your order for a car without options and you have to walk out the dealership, they'd prefer not to sell you a car.

I guess if they can sell all the cars they want to sell with a minimum of £20k of options then ferrari or the dealers don't really care who they ps off.
They might argue that if you can afford £200k, you can easily afford another 10-20% more, but that's not really the point.
Sure things would be different if there was an economic downturn and they were struggling to sell cars.

Well this chap above didn't need to spend 20k to get an order accepted and had no sales pressure put on him ?

A poverty spec Speciale can be done with no issues, however they will try and steer you in to ordering more options,it's just the nature of the game.
