Sticky No More
Discussion
Just to say to those of you with sticky rubber centre consoles, I had a good experience with Sticky No More last year refurbishing the centre console, ashtray, steering column shroud and door mirror triangles of my F355. You dismantle everything, send the parts over and they come back looking like new, a big step beyond simply replacing the HVAC overlay. The cost was about £1000 which is nothing compared to buying new which have likely deteriorated in storage anyway.
You can go further and deal with the air vents, switches, instrument surrounds - in effect all those parts coated in soft touch rubber - but it's the parts you touch most often which suffer the wear and tear.
I also switched mine to degrees C as I have the rest of the car and from PSI to bar by finding a set of used gauges on eBay.

I'm a tight wad and refuse to part with that amount of money to have some plastic resurfaced, so I dismantled mine completely and wrapped it in vinyl. Will post pics when back in the car.
I too am a tightwad so bought a can of brake cleaner, 2 boxes of Q-tips and a roll of lo-tack masking tape and spent about 8 hours destickying my own interior. With the exception of the fact that I've lost the arrows on my air vents and the "lock" moniker on my door handles the rest of the job is perfect.
OP - How are the parts after a year of use? Are they just as good as when they were 1st done or have they deteriorated in any way?
The plastic console parts on my '93 Diablo have gone sticky and i would like to get it sorted.
Stickynomore seem to specialise in this but cost seems to be quite expensive. If they do a good job and it lasts then probably worth it, but if finish deteriorates again then not worth the cost & effort.
How long did it take from you sending the parts off to getting them back?
Thanks

The answer is that, 18 months in, the parts are looking just as good. No visible deterioration at all, no wear. The rubber finish is replaced with a satin paint which adds a lustre to the interior. It looks great.
If you send to StickyNoMore, it obviously pays to use someone like DHL for security and of course you have to pay customs charges and VAT on the way back. From memory, it's a 2-3 week turnaround.
I've no doubt at all there are less expensive alternatives but my F355 is so precious to me, it's worth it. YMMV!

Forgive me if I'm being thick here, but why did you pay customs charges and VAT? Those charges are for importing goods into the UK and this shouldn't apply unless they thought these items being returned were new Ferrari parts. If that is the case, I hope you didn't get charged a lot!Gassing Station | Ferrari V8 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
