I found this weird after driving things like PDK Porsches, where you physically move the shift lever into Park before turning off the ignition, but the Ferrari dual clutch approach is to simply stop the car in gear, then hit the start/stop button before taking your foot off the brake.

Ferrari also recommend with the F1 system (when switching off) that you leave it in first gear even though there is a manual handbrake. Not absolutely sure why to be honest.

In the 430 hand brake was utter crap, so you definitely didn’t want to rely on it. It even alarmed at you if you switched it off neutral.

Re the beeping. I’ll am going to have to go check now. It’s away for service at the moment but as soon as I pick it up I am going into reverse.

Oh I agree, the handbrake is truly crap even after adjustment!

Lovely though the car is, I prefer a more rapid throttle action, and not having it shuffle up to seventh quite so eagerly, so took it to DMS Performance yesterday. They re-mapped everything to make it more like I wanted, and also stuck another 115bhp on as well.



Edited to add, the original power and torque curves don’t drop off like that but there’s no point continuing the run once power has plateaued, which is why the line drops.

That’s quite interesting but I wouldn’t want to change the character of my Portofino which I very much use as a touring car. I avoid it changing up to 7th so readily by driving it in manual.

I’d assume so. I imagine that the warranty is now pretty much worthless.
