I’ve seen some impressive videos of this, my Indy suggested using lanoguard on the underside of my 993 next time it’s in, and I wondered whether it would be worth DI cleaning to get all the crud off before it goes in.
Any downsides?

To mostly answer questions you didn't ask, I would remove each side's plastic sill covers yourself, clean out all of the external crud, and then use something like Bilt Hamber S50 with the clever end-piece to spray into the inner-sill cavity through all of the now-exposed fitment holes.

No affiliation, but I've used their anti-corrosion products for years and they apply well. I coated the chassis-leg ends in their products for example. As well as inside the sills as above.

https://bilthamber.com/product/dynax-s50/ for the sills

https://bilthamber.com/product/dynax-uc/ and ub for the underbody painted metal.

If your 993 is actually dirty underneath (many are just surface rusty hehe ) use something like https://bilthamber.com/product/surfex-hd/
to clean/degrease everything first.

Other cleaning and rustproofing products are available.

Do each wheel arch area separately, take your time.

I don't work for Bilt Hamber - they just make effective products IMO.

You are welcome. But I'm surprised nobody has actually answered your question.

Someone on here must have tried dry ice cleaning?
