Are these 964 RUF wheels?

That’s interesting, they don’t fit without a spacer or with 5mm spacer, I’ll try 2 x 5mm spacers on one side and see if that clears the caliperI’ve test fitted these and they fit without interference with 10mm spacers on the front and 5mm on the rear.
I’ve been pondering this, and I’m not sure if my logic is correct here but bear with me!
If the stock front cup 2 is 7” wide with a 55 offset and the RUFs are 8” wide with a 56.7 offset I need a circa 15mm spacer to put the centre line of the wheel in the same place on both wheels
Both the RUF and Cup 2s wheels are 9” wide, the RUFs are 44 offset and the Cup 2s 55 offset, so the RUFs are already 11mm wider track per side than the Cup 2s, but without a spacer they just catch the rear brake caliper, which I guess is just down to wheel spoke design, so using a 5mm spacer means I will increase the rear track by 16mm / side, 32mm overall.
Opinions please, I bought these for 2 reasons, the first I’m a tart and love the look of them, and the 2nd because an 8” rim on the front was more appropriate for a 225 section tyre.
Am I being a tw*t and letting vanity rule my head, or will the above work perfectly well?

I don't think the maths is going to help you.
Factory 8J front wheels tend to have an offset of 50 or 52, so 56 shouldn't be a maths/wheelarch factor.
....as you said, It will be the shape that will be causing the fouling.
Also be aware that 10mm spacers are too much for the standard studs to work with the nuts (15mm way way too much) so you'd have to fit longer studs.
Just in case you want to spend some more money, I don't like the 7J front 'look' either, so I sourced both the 8J ET52 so-called Cup2 (993.362.126.00), and the Boxster rear 8.5J ET50 Sport Classic (993.362.126.55), both options to go on the front obviously with 225/45/17.
I've driven extensively on the latter, and it works very well IMHO.

It may be that the 993.362.126.00 8J ET52 was actually manufactured for the front of the 928, (but I know nothing about factory specs on the 928) so keep an eye out for 928 wheelsets for sale.
But it is listed in TSB 4440 (for example the version dated 2/98) detailing winter wheels/tyres, as a rear for the WB cars.
Also be sure that you buy only the ET52 - in 8J there were other winter rears for the NB and the WB, which were I think the ET70 and ET30 specified with a spacer..... dunno why?

OP, if it's RUF wheels in particular that you're after for your 993, I have 19s on mine - not everyone's cup of tea, but I like the look for sure. Obviously no issues clearing the brake callipers with the larger rim diameter. And for the record I have 285/30/19 on the back and 225/35/19 on the front.
Now for sale in the classifieds https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
