A 3.2 Cubsport ... with the current owner for 30 years so almost the full history is first-hand knowledge ?

Thanks for sharing. It'll be interesting to see how the result compares to this one a few years back of similar milage...https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1989-porsche-9...

vs this one with crazy low milles

I drove one of these 25 years ago when they were £25 to £30k. I find it amazing air cooled commanding these sort of prices the CS was cheaper than a sport back in the day. Lovely cars and £100k plus as a drive? Difficult one to be honest but buyers are paying it so must be worth it. One of 50 odd UK cars so that’s the premium for exclusivity! Personally I’d be no less bothered if it was a mint vanilla 3.2 Carrera Sport.
It may seem strange but these are a much more interesting drive than a 2.7RS, they are the RS of the impact bumper range (even the '74 / '75 2.7 which was an improved 2.7RS Touring was only called a Carrera) ... and values in the USA are particularly high.
Of course we are an island of RHDrive ... but if I had to choose an air-cooled road car, this might be better than a 964RS for my money.
993RS is a different kettle of fish altogether ... with the front of a 968 ?? IMHO !

I know quite a bit about these. Had one for 12 years, alongside a 2.7RSL, and back in the ‘90s Fred Hampton asked me to record and preserve all the known information about them whilst it might still be available/traceable.
I dealt with the Factory and they were very helpful.
In essence, it a mildly modified G50 3.2 Carrera SE with a few nice touches and weight saving initiatives - and weighs about 50 kg less than a typically specd 911SE.
Compared with a similar G50 3.2SE I would say that it drives a touch more sweetly. The weight saving providing slightly crisper handling and performance. Plus a bit more noise from the reduced sound and rust proofing.
I might have been guilty of perpetuating the story that the engines were ‘blue printed’. This probably isn’t true, but most showed well above the 231bhp on the dyno.
Values are what someone is prepared to pay. I wouldn’t get too distracted by ‘rarity’, there’s lots of supposedly ‘rare’ Porsche models. But, judging it on its merits, I would say 25-50% over an equivalent G50 3.2SE.
As someone said above, in recent years the market has started over-rating certain cars, and I’m just being realistic. It’s certainly a more useable road car than the 964RS, but in terms of importance, it’s not in the same league as the 2.7RS - although the market for these seems to be struggling at the moment.
Too much ‘new money’ chasing the latest ‘must haves’ or dubious ‘restomods’, perhaps.

A fairly definitive summation of the differences between the 3.2 CS and standard car can be found here (along with some CS’s in very rare hues) :I dealt with the Factory and they were very helpful.

Been sold but this one is as time-warped as it gets. 103 miles from new.

There is something very sad about a car that hasn't been used ... but it's very interesting for anybody putting an older car that has been used and customised, back to its original condition ...

ended at £120K, which considering the previous one that sold of similar mileage at £110K then the sale price seems about right.
What was interesting was the very high number of people who had liked the car ... this one had been modified which is not what collectors tend to want, but without question a lovely and to me a very distinctive and useable classic.Geneve said:

Hi Geneve - I would be interested in receiving any data/info you hae on these cars. I am lucky to have one of the UK cars, mine differs from the norm as the interior is all brown.I dealt with the Factory and they were very helpful.

In my history file I have collected a magazine or 2 and data on what makes the CS different. Mine has been mildly modified as the previous owner used it on trac. The mods are cage(that has gone) Recaro pole positions, 968 CS steering wheel, exhaust and a few other items.
I don't use it often but when I do it is for long drives with interesting roas or the odd trip to Europe.
I like the raw honesty of the car and the mechanical nature. If the C was an R I am sure it would command higher prices and possibly a wider understanding. I am glad it is a CS as it means it hasn't got to the lofty hieghts of say the 964 RS which to me is the spwn of the CS.
Slippy - Thanks for that your tube post, nice to see the different hues and another one with bronw interior!

"Production ended in September 1989 by which time 312 Club Sports had been built. 53 of these were right-hand drive and 28 were US-bound cars that featured the standard American-spec. 217bhp engine."
My question, I know that a very large number of these cars were for the C00 German market ... but was the UK the only RHD market ?

This was Mark Sumpter's explanation for the low number of cars sold ...I dealt with the Factory and they were very helpful.

“You know what it was built for don’t you?” prompted Mark Sumpter, Porsche racing driver and dealer. “At the time, it was actually built for club sport racing, so they didn’t market it much because they weren’t looking to sell it as a model in the [911] model range,” he added.
And in the UK it was sold at a lower price than the standard car ... as the 968CS was. If a dealer would ever be guilty of doing anything, wouldn't it be selling-up ?
