Hello. I am trying to find out about this dealership....with the aim of rebuilding the history of a Porsche 930 Turbo Cab it supplied....in Cassis Red.

The car is fairly unique being so highly specificed at the end of the run.

Any connections \ news would be helpful.

Hi there,

Living in Wilmslow around that time and being 14/15 years old I spent far to much time with my nose pressed against the glass of this dealership :-)

Probably saw the car at some point but cannot add anything to the history I'm afraid.

Best of luck in your search.

Regards

Tim

Live in Wilmslow now and used to cycle up from where we lived in Heald Green to have a gawp at Ian Anthonys, its now a Tesco Metro and Porsche Wilmslow is now on the A34 in Handforth, thought for a time it was on Altrincham road on the way out of Wilmslow in a big flash purpose built showroom.

Its weird, back in the mid eighties you didnt see many Porsches, more of them around than Mondeos these days.

I also have an ‘89 930 Turbo (Coupe) bought from Ian Anthony. My colour is also unusual. The original paint code on the log book was L908SM which was Grand Prix White. There is a sticker covering this which reads 69 POR 831 Brilliant Red. The car looks more Velvet Red to be honest. The story goes that the car was ordered factory white, but the buyer fell through. New buyer through Ian Anthony got the colour changed before it left the Porsche factory. Sounds BS to me - can still see areas of car painted white under trim and panels. I wouldn’t think Porsche would repaint a car like from new.

Anyone ever heard of this / similar before?

Yes, I recall Ian Antony from a time Porsche was a rare car. The name Ian Antony, though, sounded like a gay hairdresser, something not unknown in Wilmslow.

Ian Anthony. I remember pressing my nose against the glass as a new driver oggling the showroom. My wife's boss at the time was a regular buyer of 911 in the 80s (reg 89 JAE), letting me have a drive of his 911 supersport cab before he traded it for a Testarossa.

Whilst the 'fabric' of the Ian Anthony building is stil there it's now a Tesco rolleyes
