964 gearshift issue
Discussion
I used my 964 today and really enjoyed the 45 minute run to my folks, I also used it on Monday with a 3 hour round trip; both journeys were uneventful mechanically, although glorious to be out in the car.
On the return run today, there was a 30 odd minute tailback on the dual carriageway, with stop-start traffic as well as more normal motorway speeds. Towards the end of the journey on the slip road, I struggled to be able to change down into lower gears.
Is this a normal for a 964?
It’s a 1990 C2 with 68,000 odd miles and correctly maintained.
Advice and thoughts appreciated.

Sounds likely you need a new slave piston hose. When old they swell when they get properly hot and gear selection becomes difficult.
Or ... it needs bleeding to get rid of the decades old fluid that’s now accumulated in the slave cylinder, or indeed the slave cylinder itself needs replacing.Thank you both; either or the combined issues make sense. It’s only the second time the problem has arisen in 3.000 miles within my ownership.
I have yet to find a good 911 specialist with 964 knowledge near to me (Suffolk) and use Autofarm, who are really good and look after it annually but are 100 odd miles away.
