I hope this is ok to post, as only just signed up to Piston Heads. I have a 1993 Porsche 968 Cabriolet 3.0 manual, horizon blue with that is just sitting - not being driven. Before I put her up for sale, I wanted to get an idea of what I should and shouldn't do before selling. Mechanically I believe she has been looked after (ex husband is a mechanic), but there is bodywork that needs doing - a poor respray has left bubbles on wheel arches and top of doors. So I either get the paintwork done and sell her, or sell her as a project.

I am based in South Bucks so if I get the paintwork done, I then need to find a decent bodyshop - any suggestions?

Have a look at any 968 for sale and try and judge where yours sits in that spread, both with and without a respray. The difference in that price will tell you if it's worth doing. I imagine doing the respray well, and any poor metalwork exposed in the process, will not be cheap.

Good luck.

Just sell it as is. No offence but it's probably not the most desirable of Porsches and you maybe don't want to invest a lot of money in paint and then still find it a hard sell!

Agree with above, normally for a private individual not connected to the trade its always better to sell a car "as is" from a financial perspective and cut your losses.

Thank you for the input. Its gone off to a garage to get MOTd. I just need to work out how much to put her up for sale now, without the bodywork being fixed!
