Quick question gents, just bought a '89 car with a gash steering wheel, needs replacing. Will a 964 wheel fit into a ''89 car, they seem to look the same.

Cheers

I don't know the answer but I have a mint 3.2 wheel here that you could buy - if it's of interest I'll let you have the part number.

911s up to and including the Carrera 3.2l use a larger early Beetle-type spline. 964s use the later more slender Super Beetle sized spline which is shared with 924s, 944s and 968s.

Be careful though: just because it (a wheel - not yours, which wont fit, presuming that its off a 3.2) fits doesn't mean that the horn ring is compatible!

Hi Goose, thank for your response and I'm interested in the wheel, I've emailed you a couple of times but had no reply...not sure if they're not getting thru due for some reason.

I too have an absolutely perfect 32.l wheel. I have been keeping it for my next aircooled torsion bar 911, but I don't think that I will own one wit the way that prices are going.

If the first offered part falls through then I should sell mine, if you are interested.

Hello Rich. Ive received it and forwarded it to my proper email account. I will get the wheel out of my steering wheel store in my loft and take a picture or two and think about the price.

Im a buyer and a hoarder but seldom a seller, so I hadn't considered what it would be worth.

911.347.084.08/09. The wheel is date stamped 1987 and the Horn pad is date stamped December 1988. The car was an early '89 model year which all ties together.

Sorry, not had the emails. Try marcus@autoperform.com

I'll get it out tomorrow & check the numbers but mine's the standard wheel (there is a deep dish option version available too) in very dark charcoal grey (not quite black) with the horn push. I haven't looked at prices recently and none on eBay (964 one on at £199 though).

If his is already black then that makes sense. They can be re-coloured though or complete retrim kits in various colours are just £22 to make it like new.

Hi GC8

Sent you an email did you get it? Is your wheel black? If you have any photos could you send them over pm with an idea of what you'd like for the wheel.

Cheers
