Warm air is moist? - 993
Discussion
Hi All,
I have noticed recently that if I leave the car outside overnight, when I get in it in the morning it tends to mist up quite a bit. To be clear, it isn't misted up when I come to it - it just happens when I start up.
I did all the usual checks for leaks and damp - everything is very dry, and I even checked the sound deadening.
What does surprise me though, is that it appears to be the drivers side only? If I leave the fan at zero, everything is OK. However, as soon as I turn the fan on the drivers side screen and side windows mist up. Another point worth mentioning is that if I leave the temp setting at the lowest (cold), it is all OK. I checked the servo's that operate the air-flow in the foot-well's and they all operate properly. So, this would suggest that when the temp is set to cold, no warm air is getting to the vents (no misting) - but as soon as I turn the temp up, warm air comes out and it mists up!
The worst thing is that it can take 10 - 15 minutes before this will clear.
But - if it's raining, it just doesn't get any better.
I may be wrong, but this all looks like I may have some damp inside the air circulation system somewhere between the heat exchangers and the vents?
Any ideas anyone......
Andy

Think it's quite common . Mine is quite susceptible to condensation if its raining or if I wash the car then go for a drive.
I had thought there must be water getting in somewhere but I've been unable to find any.
Have heard of lots of similar reports amongst the 993 community so it may be a case of "they all do that sir" !!!!

Mine is garaged so I don't really get this issue, but when its left outside overnight at a hotel for example, then it does!
I don't think you will fix this, they are old cars now and its a characteristic, part of the charm!
There are things you could try like new windscreen and door aperture rubbers etc, but give it a wipe and enjoy the car!

There are two cabin/pollen filters on the 993, one on each side. It's possible one is more 'clogged-up' than the other?
When did you last change them? It's an embarrassingly easy job to change them, on an MY96 at least; no tools are required. Disclaimer:- there may be two screws to remove on earlier cars.

Good call. Last service was May '13, so they will be getting changed again next month when it goes in for a 24k jobbie. Let's see if this makes a difference. When did you last change them?
