Hi guys!

I just found a 993 tip cab 94 (M111 GAM) within my price range and I have taken a look (can't afford a manual coupe varioram!!). It looks great and I have reserved it subject to haggling but both myself and the trade seller want it to be PPI'd. He wants me to go to Porsche Main Dealer Chiswick, which unbelievably only charges £215 for an 111 point check (they are renowned for massive bills) but I was thinking of taking it to a specialist (Chelsea Carrera £165ish) who may be more used to the older cars. Charles Ivey, a major independent want £300. I'm not bothered about spending a few quid more, I just want a good check done!

What are your thoughts?

I have used a main dealer in the past, and they did a good job. Peter Morgan covers the area and leaves no stone un-turned.
i have not had direct experience of the other options, but suspect that all will be reasonable.

Might be worth calling JAZ in Wembley. Always gets good reports. Depends where car is, I suppose. Great thing about Porsches is you are never very far away from one of the good guys. Few to avoid, obviously.

I took a chance with mine and just bought it, though... Might be wrong but Charles Ivey now is not the same Charles Ivey from the 80s/90s (Le Mans etc).

Thanks guys. I went for Chelsea Carrera in the end after I read they were recommended by 911 Virgin. I spoke to the guy and he seems straight up.

Now you mention it...yes, it could be! I will have to call Charles Ivey and ask!

I am just champing at the bit to get her home! Fingers crossed for the check tomorrow!!

If 911Virgin suggest someone you will be fine. They are great cars, just done 400 miles to Devon and back and would buy another if space/funds permit.
