And the White 3.2 Carrera at £39.995 was bought from Adrian Crawford where it was up for £29.995.

The cars sold by Mr Hawkins are never cheap, however I am led to believe he offers a very good warranty and the cars are well prepared. On visits to his place for the big breakfast events he has an impressive workshop and bodyshop facility, and the cars he sells seem to be turned out well.

I must clarify I am not a SCOM fan boy, I would not buy a car from him (due to the price), and I have not bought from him, but if you want the same 'peace of mind' when buying a second hand car that you would get buying from an OPC then I think that is his strong point.

The car may be strong money for a narrow bodied 4, but it is all relative. There will be someone out there with plenty of cash to spend who wants a nice low mileage 993, so paying a few thousand over the odds is insignificant. Especially if you consider the depreciation you suffer with the new water cooled stuff. Factor in the good residual values and paying too much up front balances out a little.

If the price of £39,995 is correct, I think there is only one way that can be justified, and that is if all jobs necessary to bring the car upto excellent/mint condition have been done, both mechanically & cosmetically.

With these type of jobs, it's really very easy to swallow up £10k ++

Not arguing with you, but what is there that can cost that much?

Even if we put top-end prices for the below?

Front and rear screen apertures.
Rear chassis rails.
Fan relays.
Cam cover gaskets replaced.
Brake calipers refurbed due to plate 'lift'

Cosmetic I assume stone chip respray?

These are service items, but I guess you could include them.
New brakes.
Clutch.

A working A/C doesn't put the price up - a non-working one puts the price down.

I can see around 5k, but not 10k.

What else are you thinking?

I'm not arguing either, but it's easy to spend £5k just on rust/corrosion issues if the job is done properly, these cars are now pushing 20 years old, and if they've been used regularly there is bound to be some fairly serious corrosion under the shiny surface, I don't mean just stone chips.

Also suspension, heat shields, exhaust & fixings, oil & brake lines/pipes, PU supports, it all mounts up, and I did say the car needed to be in 'mint' condition.

That is basically their business model. They continue to prove that it works.
