I may scrap my 997 search and instead buy a 993, and have noticed these 3 cars: All are "Iris blue with Marble interior" apparently...

1. What car is indeed iris and not midnight blue?
2. Is Marble grey, actually more like cream?
3. Would it be fair to say that an iris 993 is the same colour as a lapis 996?

1, Cars 1 & 3 are Iris, car to me in pic 2 is def MBM
2, Car 1 is Marble, Car 2 is Classic grey interior and not Marble, car 3, the pic is so bad I'm assuming its Marble but can't really tell. Yes marble is more on the way towards cream
3, I'd say no, Lapis is more a purple blue.

I'm a little marmite on Lapis, and prefer Midnight Blue (Which in direct sunlight looks almost black). I'd also have classic grey than Marble as it seems to wear better.

Car (pic) 2, looks very well specced and the one i'd have. Saying that, I might be biased. Mines MBM with grey sport seats (though the earlier ones).

Best of look with your search. I loooooooooove mine smile

Iris and marble was THE colour combo late 1995.

The second one could be marble, its look can change a lot dependent on light and camera/settings. Ask for the paintcode from the service book or under bonnet sticker. Interior is classic grey - looks a bit brown-ish. I much prefer marble but agree it is harder to keep looking fresh. Marble sometimes comes with dark blue carpets, which is more practical than pale grey/marble carpets.

Yeh, marble carpets are a bh!

Iris and midnight are both great colours, concentrate more on getting a good car.

In terms of Lapis, I am pretty sure you cant get a 993 in that colour, but there are a few ocean blue ones around.

Marble comes with black or blue dash, although some could have spec'd other colours.
It also looks a lot lighter/cream in photographs than in rear life.

Classic grey almost aways come with classic grey dash or rubicon grey which is rare and has a purple tint to it.

OK, thanks for the info... I think I prefer the marble seats/dark dashboard option. The grey dash looks a bit "weathered" IMO.

I'd actually prefer a silver or yellow car... I find the lighter colours hide scratches better, and also my next-door neighbour has a lapis 996! (he already thinks I'm copying him by buying Pork anyway...). Although I am finding being picky isn't wise with 993's as decent, sub £30k cars are not too common at the moment.

I am afraid that you are going to need to compromise on spec, there just arent the cars available to choose from and you need to concentrate on getting a good one!

I wanted red or yellow with black leather but I eventually gave up and just concentrated on getting a good car.

Yeah yeah I know, condition 1st and all that.
I think a silver car should crop up, not hedging my bets on yellow...

Try telling this to the missus. She would like a 964 or 993 but does not want in her words boring silver, blue or black or dark blue interiors that remind her of a school uniform.
