I have an 84 Carrera 3.2 and was wondering about a re spray.

The question is did Porsche have different shades of GP white but still use the same paint code?

A while back I discovered VW had more than 1 shade of tornado red so forewarned is forearmed!

I'd suggest opting for a nicer, brighter shade of white.

My 964 race car had been colour changed to the same white that the previous owner's fleet of 300 trucks was painted (code RAL 9016 I think) - nothing special but it always made the Grand Prix white cars look a bit dull & off colour when you saw them together.

I thought so, 1 shade. My car is now in the paint shop having the full monty of a re paint. They asked me to look at the panels which are now a deep gleaming white compared to the body shell which had been painted elsewhere in what can only be described as "white van white", just like yours goose! SWMBO noted that she thought the original colour to be "too white" and the painter said it looked like a modern Porsche white such as that seen on a cayman. Well I think the GP white is just right and I will have to make sure not to park by a modern white car. Parking by a van will be ok as they never get washed.
