Hi Guys, many of you will recognise me from my Porsche past, I now spend most of my time on the Ferrari section.

Few questions for comment please, I have a friend of my father who is thinking of selling his 993 TT, car has 54k miles, 4 previous owners, present owner for last 10 years covering 12k miles in that period so just used as a weekend toy, the owner has asked for my input / help as he works abroad.

Car is Arena red, and has black and Arena interior (never seen one like it so arena seat inserts and door cards could be after market)
Apparently he did advertise on here sometime ago but overseas work comitments make it a little difficult to show the car to potential buyers.

So the questions, what is its value and what price should we pitch it at ?, a look on here suggests around the 50k mark, when I nearly bought a 993 turbo a good few years ago Arena was somewhere between 5-10k behind other colours, is Arena still an unloved colour ?

If the sale goes ahead (depending on the valuation on here mainly)would a private sale be sucessful for this type of Porsche or should we try SOR via the likes of 911 virgin or similar ?

There is no rush so I am tempted to try a private sale (as normal)and if no interest think of other options.

I have not seen the car but on face value and the few pics it seems to be a nice example.

Thoughts / value please

It is very hard to say without knowing more about condition and history but I quite like arena red. 911 Virgin dont do SOR but they will give you a price. I reckon for a sale to a dealer, assuming condition is A1 and service history is all good you should get high 40's. Paul Stephens sold one for about £56k last year and he's as pricey as they get (although his cars tend to be top notch too)

Sounds like something the hairpin company would be interested in& they certainly seem to be able to turn over the nice stuff.

so would we say Arena is back in fashion and not the kiss of death it used to be ?

We prefer to buy cars outright rather than sell them on behalf of their owners but we do offer SOR. It isn't always a viable option but can work well with cars whose value is subjective rather than immediately obvious. A 993 Turbo would fall in to this category.

Just thought I would clear that up

Tom, if you can make that 996TTS of yours GT silver instead of Arctic, and give it some heated seats, I will pick it up tomorrow..!

I think that it is still a liability if it is on a 996, particularly with Savannah or Tip.

It is not Arena Red but Ruby Red on a 997 (so the colour is not quite out of fashion) and is very similar in shade. I for one think it is a great colour. I cannot do the link but there is a 993 Turbo S in Arena Red at £130k on the classifieds (I am sure it was on 6 months ago at £110K) - love it and want it!!!!!!!!. So Arena Red would not bother me. smile

Wasn't the 993 turbo launched in arena red? Always like to see a car in its launch colour myself

As you say a bit brighter than arena but looking at pictures owner has sent me Arena seems to have aged well.

Anyone any comments on value or anyone here follow the market for this model ?

Do you know what the more I look at it ......... I quite like it :-)

Is that interior genuine Porsche does anyone know ? looks like a partial retrim, but looks really nice in photos, did porsche do the Autograph or individual range at that time ?

Possibly an option. The option scheme's name escapes me now.

If its factory there'll be a lot of X### codes on the option sticker for exclusive options but bare in mind some have only one option for a special wishes dept or exclusive build.

Also from (iirc) 96 onwards porsche reading had an exclusive dept where cars could be sent post build but pre registration for other exclusive options.

Very restrained if it is from the exclusive options

Absolutely agreed! Arena red, whilst being the 993 turbo launch colour, remains pretty rare on 993's. A friend of mine has a 993 Carrera in arena with turbo hollows and it looks gorgeous.
