I know I've said it before, but I do wish they would stop ruining 964s for this nonsense. Just restore them, if they need it, and gently update the oily bits.

I know people are still gutting 60s Ferraris to make 250 GTO replicas, but you don't see a massive industry cutting up 355s to make 328 lookalikes, do you?

Agreed. 964 is my favourite 911 (it was the contemporary one when I was a kid) and it feels like such a waste to cut them all up to make pretend old 911s

i had the rear Arches reshaped to the more round RSR look as the turbo ones already on there ( its a 930 orginally ) were more boxy in shape

Something about the side view doesn't seem right to me. Makes the door appear small with a lot of body below the bottom shut line of the door. Is that how they should look?

They could probably have lost some of that with some period side decals, but as you’ve said, the extra “bit” they’ve tacked on the bottom of the sill (along with another panel joint) makes it look too deep when compared to the equivalent sill section on the Singer :

And even without side decals the Singer sill section looks “right” :

Singer have 'hidden' that extra bottom sill and the front lip by painting them matte black. This one would benefit from the same and would lose some of the extra visual weight.

Selling it after 109 km ? Incredible how many of these cars get built and sold straight away.

That looks awful - it’s tragic how many aircooled 911s must have been ruined by misguided, self-indulgent custom jobs.

Although, the one thing I do quite like is the colour - prefer the subtle retro- tones to the loud and bright hues.

Some though just never seem to move on. This for example has been for sale now I swear for about 5 years

Totally agree. Take for example this - its the same price, if not cheaper than some of these questionable restomods. I for one would much prefer this.

Targa's are cool cars but I'd never want to own one...bad enough having a sunroof on a classic Porsche. Never dare open it! I'd imagine they drive slightly worse than the Coupe's too but no idea that.

Actually, were I to go down the restomod route ever again (I don't think I ever will at todays prices) it would be a Targa that would do it for me.

If I wanted a classic road racer a 996 GT3 does it all with history to boot-a nice Targa for sunny back road pootles would be much more pleasant.

The problem with the Targas is the flat roof, it kills the teardrop shape but with it stowed they look great.

But then as above, would a retro look really look any better than a lovely 964 Targa in maritime blue, or peppermint on cup alloys or three piece speedlines?

I don't know how long that advert has been up but I might have bought that a few weeks ago if I'd have seen it before I bought my 1989 930.

The only thing I don't like on the 964 is those silly overinflated bumpers, it looks like Bubba out of Forrest Gump.
The 964 is arguably a better car than the 930, but the 930 looks better because of the bumpers - and the 930 bumpers are ugly, just not as ugly.

I actually think the 964 era bumpers are better than impact bumpers personally.

Should’ve been a superb video, but Harris cringeworthy faux surprised “kid in a sweet shop” commentary ensured otherwise, regrettably.

It's just an advertorial for the company. I'm not sure how much input Harris had into what he was allowed to say. I'm sure he was paid well to act surprised at the place he's been to many times before.

Though it’s ‘a given’ on the level of quality control and engineering prowess they have - that’s all to be expected-but I still found it mind-blowing seeing the factory floor and the craft.

In my opinion they have made the 930 Turbo the ultimate car.

Lovely especially in that colour. i do not think its a 930. Pretty sure its based on a 964 turbo hence the abs, PAS etc. I think price is $1.3m.
