Porsche Cayenne S 4.5 V8 - 2005

Hi all,

I am looking for someone advice.

Off to view a Porsche Cayenne s 4.5 2005 at the weekend.

What should I look out for?
What questions to ask?

Coolant pipes have been upgraded which is great.
Mileage is 108k
Full service history

I am good with tools etc, happy to give anything a go, very patient to 🤣Any advice / help would be great

Sunroofs leak, blocked drains, usual chaos follows.

Check air suspension all works.

V8s known for bore score but any still alive probably fine.

15mpg. Listen for exhaust leaks. Check for driveline knocks/bangs.

Read the codes before purchase if you can.

Rear tailgate struts often don't get changed as it is a big job to fix so check tailgate stays up.

Thanks so much for the reply. With the bore score I believe it’s a ticking/tapping. Is it a distinctive noise or quite hard to hear it?

Quick check of the tread wear across the tyres would be helpful in finding out if it is a tyre eater or not.

If you can stretch to a 4.8 or a turbo they are generally more reliable as they didn’t suffer from the same bore scoring issues

They're worth about a grand, anyone spending more needs to see a special doctor, I just bought one for less than a grand and I'm still not sure it was good value. Someone else paid £4k for it in January, which really made me laugh.

Base spec was exceedingly miserly so don't assume it has rudimentary stuff like cruise control without checking.

Hi mate

This is £1650 but sure i can get it cheaper. Issues are back OSR window switch, sun roof won’t open, some small rust on tail gate. I own a Range Rover L322 so that is rusty😂
