time to replace battery? (970 Panamera)
Discussion
Hello,
The cold mornings arrived and I've noticed the car dosen't start quite as quickly as it used to.
Also the Welcome lights function seems to not be working - when I unlock or lock up the car the headlights etc. Don't come on - is this a function of battery saving? Any thoughts on this most welcome.
So I'm guessing the battery is on it's way out - my car is 2010 - I'm going to check the date tomorrow in the daylight.
Can I replace my battery myself? I've read about coding etc. Or would I be better of taking it to my local garage? Seems overkill but if it's the best thing to do I'm happy to... so coming from an old E39 BMW everything now is a bit more "complex"
Cheers

The battery is coded to the Gateway control unit - when changed, a new (genuine) battery must be taught. I have seen issues on cars with batteries left uncoded (unexplained current drain/repeat failures).
That said; I have also seen plenty of cars in with Yuasa or Bosch equivalents and no problems so...... what do I know
While you are there you can check the rear spoiler drains and make sure they are clear of debris - this time of year the drains block and rain floods the spoiler well which then seeps into the rear of the car into the battery space, flooding the rear end control unit and causing a world of pain!! Check the spoiler cables too - they seize but can be saved if not too far gone.
