Good morning all,

I currently own a 2006 BMW 730d and looking to change car. Sensible head says "buy another 7 series" but the kid in me says "caution to the wind and get a luxury sports car...a Porsche Panamera!". It will be a daily driver as such, I do not do crazy miles but average 6000 miles per year. I will be using the car for a once a week 100 mile round trip - blasted "day in the office".

My budget/price range is £25k and happy to accept that I will get a car made between 2010 and 2012. As per the online research I should avoid the V8's as they are "unreliable" - well the V8's on S and 4S due to the nikasil coating. Then there is the potential oil and coolant leak, issues with spark plugs, ignition coils. Appreciate no car is bullet proof and something will go wrong at some point but I want a Porsche that I can drive and maintain on a regular basis. Do not want one that ends up being a money pit....

My question to you, owners of V8's - have you had any "major" issues with your V8's?
There are a couple of V6's on sale.

Which is the better car - sound, acceleration, road handling etc

Below are two that I really like but would like to hear/read owner views.

The V8 Turbo:

The V6:

Thanks

Serial owner here. Had a Turbo, and moved it onwards as I found myself exploring the envelope a little too much. Very fast car when it puts it's mind to it. Only issue was a cooling one, pipe split, fixed and never repeated. All round discs and pads (and one caliper) was bill I dont want to see again.

Now have the e-hybrid S, lovely thing. It's fast when you push it, but not as ridiculous as the Turbo. Stretched a cam chain last year, but its under warranty, so the £30K bill went to someone else. Very reliable, and very comfortable. Still miss the V8 snarl though.

Have run a 2010 turbo as a toy for the last 3ish years, started tuning it over the last couple of years , has proven to be pretty reliable, however, due to age , some parts have reached end of life. I've gone through the pdcc pipes, all front end suspension, rear spoiler has proven to be a pita though as they are open to the elements and seize very easily. Mine is currently not working, so away to book in to indy for another strip down as a new one is a ridiculous price. Go drive a few, you won't want the v6 . Some folk prefer the gts which sounds amazing. Turbo is an absolute bargain though at that budget.
