Porsche warranty?
Discussion
Been looking at Macan S diesels for a while. A couple have caught my eye at Porsche dealers meaning that whilst they have the official extended warranty they of course come with a higher price to pay. So, as per title, has anyone have any experience with the said warranty and is it worth having or should I chance private? I read that some of these cars come with expensive oil leaks and transfer box problems so would they be covered and is it that common? My current McLaren warranty has been fantastic and my previous Aston Martin 'Timeless' warranty was excellent too. Thanks in advance for any advice/experience.
The Porsche warranty is very good and can be renewed until the car is 15(?) years old. The cost varies between models but it's circa £700ish a year.
The downside is you have to keep the car unmodified and only fitted with Porsche parts, plus have Porsche services as per the correct schedule.

We've got a seven year old Cayman that has had the Porsche extended warranty on it since the original warranty expired.
It has had a number of minor issues in that time (heater fan failed, sticky drivers window, central locking failed) and all of them have been resolved without drama. No it's not cheap and as already mentioned you can't modify the car in any way and have to have the car serviced at a Porsche dealer but for peace of mind in our experience it's probably as bullet proof as you can get.
If you buy the car from a Porsche dealer you'll get 24 months warranty included in the deal which is one reason why they tend to cost a bit more from them.
Oh, and as our Macan GTS turned 3 last year and as we decided to keep it we extended the warranty on that for 3 years. From memory it cost £2300 all in including European wide breakdown and recovery service.

I bought a Macan GTS privately 18m ago. It came with a Porsche warranty that I got transferred, have since extended it for 3 years £2,100.
I was especially mindful of the transfer box (all Macans) and oil leak (petrol only) - both of which my car has since developed.
Transfer box is covered up to (I think) 7 years old by Porsche.
As previously stated for peace of mind it's a reasonable deal (obviously I've already got my value for money )

Yes, currently 7 years from date of registration. Porsche mothership has acknowledged that the original transfer box has a design issue and falls short of Its usual standards. On that basis it would be reasonable to expect that the warranty ends up covering replacements not just up to 7 years but beyond. Just had my transfer box replaced this week. The car is a Cayenne so has the 10 year warranty. I’m at 9 years 8 months of ownership so asked them to take a look. They replaced it with now questions.
The only issue is they gave me a brand new all options Cayenne as a loaner and now I’m looking to buy a replacement for mine.

We had a 2015 Petrol Macan S.
Great car but wouldn’t run one without the warranty. The transfer box went around 30k miles, drive shafts a bit later and the finally the rear suspension.
And the big one. The engine had a small oil leak, picked up on service. Nothing really, not even a drip on the drive but covered by the warranty.
Front end dismantled and engine out to replace a gasket. Over 30 hours and £5k.
The warranty covers it all.
Our Macan ate tyres and brakes for fun, build that into your calculations.
