So I've Purchased this via Car and classic auction just awaiting collection.

I've been after one for a while. I was toying on 944 but never really found one I really liked or was wrong timing. This popped up and I sort of felt I should have a bash at buying it.

Nervous as I've not seen It yet and I don't normally buy my cars this way but the whole process Is there to protect both myself and the seller so I'll soon see If this is a good buy or not when I turn up. 'Cross fingers!'

It all seems to be nice but needs a good service and I'll replace all filters and fluids etc. It's got a MOT but hasn't been driven for 3 years the poor thing! I intend on changing this. It's running a little lumpy from cold It says so hopefully a good service and some driving will help?.

48k miles non sunroof with GT Kit fitted It's a Series 2 Turbo so had the upgrades. and a Cool interior!.

What do you guys think? anyone know It??. Is It worth joining the 924 forum?.

Excuse the pictures taken from my phone! more to follow when I collect.

Two things to look for as soon as you get it. Firstly check that all the exhaust manifold to cylinder head studs and nuts are intact. They are almost impossible to check but with a camera phone or a mirror on a stick you should be able to see them all. Pray they are good otherwise the manifold will leak during its thermal cycle, not good for the head face and turbo. They are a nightmare to fix!
Secondly do a couple of full power acceleration runs in first gear, you a looking to see if it jumps out of first. If it does then the synchro is worn and it’s a nightmare as the whole main shaft needs to be changed and they were unavailable 20 years ago, let alone now.
Otherwise the mark 2 is much better than the mark 1. The electronic ignition helps smooth things out and there are a lot of detailed changes between the two.
Good luck smile

Thank you for the information I will do my best to check this and I assume I don't need to 'Launch' the car in 1st but just put my foot down once moving to check this?.

If I come across gearbox issues later in my ownership what are owners doing to rectify now? would a reputable gearbox rebuilder deal with this?

I spoke to the owner this morning he mentions its lumpy when cold but soon sorts itself out I wonder what this could be. he has driven It 60miles in his 3 year ownership..

Thanks in advance.

Someone is selling a pair of original 937 seats at the moment. The Carrera GT used regular 2nd type Sports seats, but they have extended black with red pinstripe fabric.
