Been looking at Macans and the nearly new ones don’t seem much cheaper than the brand new ones? Fancy a GTS as a long term keeper and wouldn’t be adding a lot to the standard spec apart from a few creature comforts.

Any advice most welcome!

I am in the same situation and after looking at available used Macans decided to put a deposit down for a new one. I can only suggest the waiting time for a factory build must keep demand for nearly new high.

I also came to the same conclusion and ordered a new one, delivery in May.

The general consensus from the Macan fraternity is that there is a bit of a shortage of new build slots across the UK especially the GTS. People are finding them but only by calling several dealers not necessarily in their locality.

Strong secondhand values is a bonus for those that already own one wink

Thanks guys. Wonder, What is the standard dash like in these please and assuming it’s nasty plastic what’s the cheapest way to upgrade it?

Was also thinking about how long till macan goes electric/whether it’s worth waiting or is it years away/will the petrol engines cars take a kicking residual wise or be saught after?!

In the same boat, was looking for a used GTS and was considering as old as 3 years old. One of these was going to cost me around £50k+ yet for a new one lightly specced it would be low £60s. So decided to order new and wait my turn.

Re the dash I believe it’s a leather top as standard with plastic lower half unless you upgrade.

Should have asked, what did you add to yours as extras?

Hi, keep changing my spec but basically;
Silver paint
Standard wheels 20 inch
Privacy glass
GT steering wheel heated
18 way seats
75 litre tank
Sport chrono
Smoking package
Painted side blades
Red GTS decals
Park assist rear camera
Roof rails

I think that is it. The other option I haven’t decided on is the pan roof. I’m put off it by the leaking issues that seem more common than they should be but favouring it due to being told everyone wants a pan roof on a used Macan!

Broadly Very similar to what I was looking at - sport chrono?

Yes quite like sport chrono but I’m sure it could easily be taken off an SUV!

Another one who has been looking at a nearly new Macan GTS, and realised I could get a new one with the exact spec of my choice for a little more. Not quite ready to buy just yet, but I am researching well in advance (http://www.porsche-code.com/PMCA8EF4). Only concern is the rear seat space looking tight with our child seats, so I will need to check this out.

Nice spec and mamba green, don’t see many in that colour. Seems to be a real mix of delivery times from different dealers

Same here
Ordered a new one as second hand values were so high as to make the new one the more attractive option if you keep a tight rein on the extras.

There is supposed to be an upgrade later this year that will see the car receive an upgraded infotainment system along the lines of the panamera and the 992. Then, if the rumours are to be believed, the electric Macan is due in late 2022.

On the sunroof front they are great if you don’t suffer a leak but if you do it can be a PITA getting it fixed and some of the leaks have been known to cause electrical problems according to my local OPC; the water can run down the driver side A Pillar past the fuse box and eventually end up in the battery compartment. If I was having as other Macan as a keeper I wouldn’t want one with the sunroof......

UK Macan forum is a mine of information....

Yes I heard about an upgrade on the next model year which will I think include touch buttons everywhere which I personally don’t like so I’m hoping mine doesn’t end up being in this group. As for the electric version, again another reason why I think I will keep it for longer than I normally would. Perhaps I’ll change my view but right now I just don’t have any interest in electric cars no matter how fast or aesthetically pleasing they are.
Re the sunroof, yes read all sorts on the Macan forum and there is a real split opinion on whether it is an issue or not. As you say if you do get an issue you may get it resolved under warranty but I wonder what this will do to the electrics further down the line when the car is potentially out of warranty. If you have to keep it under warranty to cover this issue it will be a very expensive sunroof and like you say a real nuisance.

Thanks, interesting info on the new electric model. Similar to Hamperman, I am not quite ready to go electric yet, hence purchasing a (and probably the last) petrol car for our next family car. The above rumoured time frame actually ties in nicely with my intention to purchase in 2022!

Ta. Some may view mamba green as a brave / stupid colour smile, but I am comfortable with non-standard colour (see profile).

Interesting comments. I’m not sure re electric or not, as a serial BMW M power owner One option I am considering is to buy a year old X3M competition and run for 18 months then decide on new Petrol engined or electric macan. Dunno really!

Are the water ingress issues from the roof covered by Porsche extended used car warranty?
