thinking of buying a used panamera hybrid (2013-15 ish), got a 996 convertible at the moment, looking for something with 4 proper seats, like the idea of the hybrid, free road tax, cheaper motoring, with still a bit of punch
good idea or money pit to keep it running ??
what it the battery life and what is replacement cost ?
thanks
keith

Did you ever get your e-hybrid?

Just curious as looking at exactly the same to complement my 996 Cab as well!

Friend of mine had one. Great vehicle... but things started to go wrong, and these issues were very expensive.

I can find out some detail if you wish?

Feels very heavy and nose dives even under mild braking.
Didn't have mine long.

I have the 911 for the sporty driving and I will be coming from an L322 Rangie as a daily so it can’t be heavier / more wallowy than that

I don't have a hybrid, so these may be different but I do have the Turbo. They absolutely do not feel heavy, they feel amazingly light considering how big they are. Now my GT3 feels like it has no weight at all after being in a Panamera, but there is no way I would say a Panamera feels heavy & wallowy. And nothing like a rangie

OK so basically I think I'll just quote from the correspondence, and you can judge for yourself. This was after four trips to and fro to get the OPC to investigate, 'fix', repeat:

OPC said:
I wanted to confirm that we have carried out thorough tests to establish the cause of the engine warning light coming on, and as discussed, it appears that the secondary air system is not working as it should, due to a restriction. At present the engine warning light has been reset and the light is not on. If it is reoccurs it will require the air pipes to be cleaned.

As discussed, the brake booster relay has had an issue at some stage and may fail again in the future, in which case it will need replacing
There was also a recall on the cooling of the battery - for software update apparently.

The owner found that the main fault did not go away, and had to get it fixed. He is very good at putting his disappointment across, and so negotiated his paying 40% of the invoice.

Car had done just over 30k at the time. However he had lost all confidence in the car and the service from the OPC, and once fixed, sold it on.

With the Rangie you are suitably prepared for the wallowy feeling of a Panny hybrid.
In all likeliness it will feel less wallowy that your RR. The Panny will feel more claustophobic though - it's like a Tardis in reverse
biggrin

well, I did it, picked up my new (to me) 2015 Panamera S E-Hybrid on Friday and have done about 400 miles in it so far!

Yes, it is a bog car (a bloody big car), but all things considered and for what it is and what it is intended to do i can't say that i have noticed it is a wallowy car.

For my purposes it sees to tick all the boxes perfectly, the battery range is just right for all the local runs that we do, and it gives a pretty good return on long motorway runs too!

I looked at the mk1s when looking for a 4 door "prestige" car, but I couldnt work out if I loved the shaped or hated it!

If you go for the dual pulley upgrade on the supercharger, an uprated intake hose with the silencer removed and a remap it transforms the engine, takes performance up to turbo levels and the supercharger whine becomes perfect, not too loud, not to su dued either though.
Mpg is still phenomenal.

What's your reported range? I've got mine from 12 miles to 14 by charging it (plug and e-charge), which is fine for the shops, and for the gliding thing, but presume that's just a battery being six years old thing...

I have found on mine with careful driving and attentive use of the regen you can double the indicated range on my cayenne s e hybrid.

It can do tesco’s and back which is 18 mile round trip of mostly NSL roads.

Interesting, where does one get these pulley kits and what / who does the ECU map?
