As subject line.

I have a Golf R for daily running about. It’s boringly competent, but I don’t like the turbo’s power delivery and I don’t like the Subaru-like engine note. I’m thinking of swapping it for something a little more engaging. I had my eye on a B8 RS4 Avant until I found out how much it would cost to insure. Ludicrous. I have an AM as a high days and holidays car, and a FFRR for family bus duties. So the role of this car is quite tightly defined: it’s for me, for daily driving, needs to be quick, engaging, not dull, take three passengers and have load space to get a bike in the back easily.

Turbo S - a bit de trop for this purpose. A V8 would be nice, and I’d prefer a NA engine to a turbo, but if the twin turbo V6 is reasonably linear in its delivery maybe I can live with that.

Also any absolute must have essential end of the world not to have options? I like toys, but the Golf is ridiculously overladen with crap I never use. And how good/bad is the Bose system?

I went for an early turbo, 2 weeks befoe 1st lockdown. Couldn't have timed it worse. Mine is a very light interior which I think looks way better than the bulk which are dark/dark. I would have loved the burmester, but I bought mine based on exterior colour, the only jet green i've ever seen. Has the Bose which is ok, never having heard the better system, I can live with that. Never really understood what folk meant about Porsche tax, but OMFG the costs can be eye watering. I'm ok for a bit of DIY so bought a semi decent code reader as I was having issues. Coil packs are failing on mine , but only take a few bolts off to access.
Forum wise Rennspeed is pretty active, Porsche club Gb is like the Mari Celeste, the old guard refuse to accept that times have moved on , very much an old boys club (in my very limited experience tbf)

Mine has sports exhaust, PCCB, air suspension etc, currently run on 21" wheels, drives great. I don't have sport chrono, might be worth trying a few different to get a feel.

It's a huge car. My main is an L405 , it's almost as big, handles amazing though.
