If fuel consumption is a priority, then you should consider the Turbo Diesel Macan - 35-40 mpg instead of 20-25mpg. Also tyre wear is c.25k mls instead of c.15k mls
Of course, the Turbo is a more visceral performance experience, but the Diesel is still real world quick, and sounds great under hard acceleration, particularly with the PSE.

I had a 2020 Macan Turbo (2.9) on loan for a few weeks. I found the consumption very similar to my S - got 30mpg on a 150 mile round trip. Interestingly it seemed more efficient around town. However, wasn’t impressed with the gearing or the very noticeable lag. Not enough performance difference to warrant the extra dollar for me.
Bought a Macan Turbo 2.9 last December. Not used that much recently because of lockdown but have averaged around 24mpg over 3,000 miles. Have seen close to 30mpg on a longer run. Mine was circa £87,000 with extras and if you're spending this sort of money then mpg shouldn't really be an issue, especially with super unleaded now around £1.07 per litre!
This replaced a GT4 (family reasons) and I'm pretty pleased with the performance. Of course, you don't get the immediate response of a NA engine, but that's not really a fair comparison. Road and tyre noise is almost non existent compared to the GT4. I specced thermally and noise insulating glass, which definitely helps.
Overall, I'm really pleased with the car and would definitely recommend. It would have been nice to keep the GT4 for weekends but that was not financially viable.

It's real world quick, but not Porsche quick - my Clio 182 Trophy could pull past my Diesel S.
I'm now in a GTS, and to be fair to the diesel, it had much better initial low down shove with all that torque at tickover. I imagine with a map it would be decent, but I actually thought the MPG was disappointing - my father had a Cayenne Diesel in 2012 and it got 45mpg on a run versus my 36mpg.
I was already uncomfortable owning a diesel powered Porsche, especially one with four exhaust! If you're OK with under 30mpg, then try both the GTS and Turbo back to back.

This is true. With the right options a DS will handle like a Turbo, and with PSE it even sounds great (apart from startup and initial tickover).Oodles of mid-range performance, and 35-40mpg / 600mls range, make it an easy car to live with.
Of course, it’s not the fastest Macan, but Porsche make better ‘sports’ cars if that is the objective.
Bought a 2.9 Turbo about three weeks ago. Getting about 22mpg combined town, motorway, country.
Not great, but similar to my old 997 GTS so can live with it.
Pretty impressed by it so far. Great air suspension ride, but it can be hustled like a big hot hatch - and I can carry tons of stuff which is a novelty compared with previous cars.
