Cayenne GTS 4.8 vs 3.6

Afternoon all,

Looking at one of these, obviously pending the re-opening of car dealers.
I had a 958 diesel S before, excellent machine but had to get rid due to ULEZ
Really missing it and looking to return to ownership. Would be trading my F31 335 (probably for pennies in this market).

Options are:

circa 2014 GTS V8 4.8 (NA) - GBP 30k -35k
circa 2016 GTS V6 3.6 (turbo) - GBP 35k - 40k

Would be looking at pan roof, heated seats, camera and auto tailgate as essentials.

Anyone here have experience of either? Did a search on there but not many threads on the merits of the two engines.

Impression I get is:
4.8 better sound, and cheaper to buy
3.6 quicker, better economy

Prefer GTS as I think S will be too similar to what I had before

other option is the 4.0TT, but a bit too much I think

Have a similar quandry ...

4.8T or 3.6T

For 4.8T money, I can get a newer 3.6T.

Just going to have to wait until lockdown is over and I can go and test drive some.

Rare beasts the GTS ! Almost wish I’d specced one instead of my S Diesel in 2017 because it would have worked at cheaper with that diesel prices have done.

Only thing I would say is back end of 2016 (I think Sep) onwards the cars come with update PCM with Apple Car Play.

This guy did the best GTS review I could find at the time. He disappeared for a while but has just started making vid’s again...lots of Porsche content.
