Hi
Just helping a friend with her new GTS order, her current car has 20s but on the standard suspension. Getting differing views at the dealer on wether it’s worth having the air suspension ?

Any views ?

I find the standard springs on the GTS absolutely fine but there’s no doubt the air can go softer. More cost and more to go wrong though...

Thanks, she’s worried the air suspension might ruins the sporty feel of the macan......she’s used to 911s and the firm sporty handling is important to her

If she's getting the new GTS Macan and staying on 20s the standard GTS suspension is fine. Many would say it is the best combination.

The Air Suspension effectively has three individual settings...Normal, Sport, Sports Plus as well as being able to lower the car in any of those. I like a firm ride but barely ever use Sport. I normally have it in Normal with the suspension at a lower setting. It can be as sporty as you want it to be play it’s great at wafting on a Motorway. My Turbo PP has the GTS suspension...it’s the older model but I doubt it’s really changed. My 911 is a GT3 so very used to and like firm suspension. On the Cayenne the Air PASM is a bit waftier but funnily enough doesn’t deal with bumps as well as the Macan which I assume if the weight.

I’d say PASM and Air are very desirable for U.K. roads, and provide various permutations that can improve comfort or sharpen handling, to suit most conditions.
That’s the reason why the top performance models normally have both.

My previous GTS was on 20" Spyders and was absolutely fine. My current GTS has air and at first I thought it wallowed a bit but then found if you put in sport it was much the same as the standard car. I like the fact you can lower the suspension as it makes the car feel a bit more stable at speed on motorways etc.

Get the air suspension, I have 21s and in normal mode its smooth. In sport suspension its very good.

However mines been back to Porsche 4 times now for the suspension..... its less than 12 months old.

Air suspension on the Macan or Cayenne should be excellent and trouble free.

The comfort advantage is definitely detectable, but most noticeable from the rear seats.

Wife GTS has sport classic 21s and the air suspension and it’s brilliant well worth having.

Soft and wafty when you need it (most of time for her) then lower and firmer when need it (most of time for me).

Would highly recommend it, that’s and pan roof are main must haves for me.

Wish i could say it was. I've got £700 to spend on Porsche Accessories as "compensation" for all the trouble i've had with mine. I think it was a friday afternoon job...

What were the delivery slots like on the GTS pre lockdown ? I guess subject to how production ramps up there might be a few cancelled orders/ slots

Would not have a Macan without air suspension.

Comfort is noticeable advantage.

Would you be able to expand on the problems? The wife’s Macan suspension doesn’t seem to be what it used to be, but I’m not sure if I’m imagining it?

I did a couple of thousand miles in a 2018 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid with 20 inch alloys with air suspension.
The side was unbelievable. The way it handled all road surfaces was sublime.

Sorry for the late response. The compressor failed and then the auto level sensor. SOmetimes i'd come back at the car was leaning or looking like it was in off road mode.

I’m just about to lick spec on my wife’s new Macan GTs and can’t seem to get a concrete answer on whether the car is lower with or without air.

Is the car lower without when air is in normal mode or is it lower when the car with air is in low mode?

Thanks in advance, I can’t make sense of it on the configurator

The gen1 Macan would go lower with air.

GTS on steel springs is the lowest steel-sprung option but air goes lower still.

Good Luck ! If it were my I’d go Night Blue, Dolomite Silver or Volcano Grey. Probably Night Blue as have seen a few GTS’s in that or similar blue’s and think they look great.
