Sachs clutch kit quality
Discussion
Had a problem with the original factory fitted Sachs clutches in both our 987 Caymans. Release bearing failure on one (though likely not Sachs manufactured) and cracked pressure plate on the other. Replaced both with Sachs non-Porsche branded replacement clutch kits and no problems until we sold the cars.
First one was 2014 when the release bearing failed on the original 2006 factory fitted clutch at 58k miles, second one was 2017, on another 2006 Cayman S we had in the family with about 90k miles on the original Sachs clutch. We sold the first one in 2018 with about 20k miles on the replacement Sachs clutch and the other car was also sold in 2018 with maybe 1k miles on the new clutch.
I fitted the first one myself but got our local OPC to fit the second one. They agreed to fit the aftermarket Sachs clutch we supplied as they accepted it was identical to the Porsche branded one.

Hi DKL,I have also had 4 original clutch covers crack.
I have fitted approx 50 clutches, all Sachs,in the last 6 years with no issues, all Porsche.
I think the Sachs have a 3 year warranty also.

Thanks Chris. I ordered one anyway as I need to get the car mobile again. There is at least a 2 yr warranty but sadly that won't include the labour to get to it, which is considerable, should it fail.I have fitted approx 50 clutches, all Sachs,in the last 6 years with no issues, all Porsche.

Ah well finger crossed.
