Cayenne charging and batteries

My 2006 Turbo S has shown a red warning light a couple of times - it says battery or Generator fault
As soon as I drive away the fault disappeared - and this happened only twice in 500 miles, but, seeing its a red warning I thought it was worth checking out.
Putting a volt meter across the jump start points under the bonnet showed only 12.56 with the engine stopped and 13.4 with the engine running.
I changed the battery under the passengers seat 4 years ago, turns out 4 years and 4 months ago and so the warranty had expired. Given its a bit of a pain to get the seat unbolted and get to the battery, I bought a new 5 year warranty Bosch battery and installed it. After a long run I checked the volts and got the same results.
I explored under the Bose speaker in the boot and discovered another battery. This was marked 43/06 and given that's week 43 / 2006 (so the original battery then) I bought and installed a new one.
After a long run, still the same volt readings... So have charged both the batteries and don't have any more fault lights. Just the voltage seems a bit low. So, clearly the alternator could be a bit suspect. Given its a water cooled unit and very expensive I will leave it 'as is' for now.
Just wondered if others have experienced any issues like this? Could someone with a volt meter and a similar age Turbo S, please check their voltages with the engine off and started please? Just as a comparison.
Thank you
