Diesel Macan - Am I mad!
Discussion
Had a test drive of a diesel Macan yesterday. 67 reg, 20 inch wheels, PASM. 16K miles. £48K.
I was very impressed with the whole package (especially the mid-range), plus it seemed a much better engine than the equivalent 2.0 Macan I had a test drive of (I have an EA888 in my soon to be returned Golf R).
My questions are,
Will it be worth f*ck all in three years (crystal ball required I guess)?
Will it the DPF give me sh*t?
(I don't pootle about; drive on the paddles so rev's be up much of the time; can avoid letting it sink below 1/4 tank thus ensurign regen' is an option).
It there a way without PIWIS to understand the DPF condition / health?
Thoughts please.
PS I only do 8K per year with a mix of short (albeit spirited) and dual-carriageway.
PPS I know .... look for a petrol S, GTS or Turbo!!

I don’t like the 2.0 Macan, think the engine is pretty ordinary, I would definitely rather have a diesel than a 2.0 as the torque suits the way most people drive these cars better. I think the diesels will hold their value just fine, most other manufacturers are still making them and I think if you asked most OPC Sales Exec’s they wish Porsche still was.
They’re brilliant cars though regardless of engine, superb to drive...if you can get one where a few options have been ticked it really lifts the interior...especially full leather.

I think you know the answer given you only do 8k per year. I've had a Macan Turbo and am currently on a GTS. Go GTS for the toys and lower depreciation.
An friend of mine, part exchanged their Macan diesel for a Turbo version (!) after their journey profile changed dramatically, after a job move and the constant shorter journeys caused lots of expensive DPF problems.
