Hi.
I've recently purchased a second-hand Cayenne ('64 plate, V8 4.2L). The dealer gave me two PVTS tags and said I'd have to contact Porsche to set it up etc. Does anyone know much about these?
Mainly my questions are
A) How much does it cost per year
B) Will it reduce my insurance enough to pay for itself (I currently pay £750 a year)...
All advice much appreciated.
Andy

It costs £217 a year.

If active you must keep one of the fobs with you when you drive the car otherwise if you leave it at home Vodafone call you checking the car is in your possession or not.

It actually made my insurance quotation go up so I never activated it.

It may go down for you, you never know.

However, I've always been of the mindset that if someone stole my car, I wouldn't want it back anyway.

My insurance company have insisted on it being active on my last 2 cars. 991 GT3, 991 RS.
Cheers.

Having renewed my insurance recently i was informed the £50k was the threshold for tracker requirements on certain cars, i have no idea how true this is, however my 991 has one and it needed to be operational, the macan has one but i let it lapse as its no required for insurance purposes.

I get this, but I'm of the mindset I will do everything in my power to make life difficult for these thieving s. Sure my GAP policy could pay out for a new one on a total loss, and my insurance policy has no requirement for a tracker but I activated mine anyway.

I can understand why you'd take a pragmatic view however. I just cannot stand the thought of some slime driving off in my car, so much so I would actively pay extra to protect it.

It's all down to the particular insurance company as to whether they require the car to have an active tracker. I switched insurance on my GT4 so that I didn't have to bother with it.
