944 rear boot sound deadening
Discussion
Has anyone tried sound insulation in the rear of a 944.
I've been out messing around in the boot as i'm ditching the spare wheel and having a general tidy up. It struck me that those three big drum sections across the rear (wheel well, battery tray and wheel arch space) must really amplify road noise. Especially as Ive found mine has open drain holes in the bottom of each.
I'd like to try and improve this with modern materials and wonder if anyone has had success. I think I'd line the body work in the troughs with the bitumen style dynamat material and then some wadding or foam sheet to keep sound from traveling. Does anyone have experience with specific materials. I was wondering if there was anything from the factory that I'm missing but i think they just were less bothered back then, Although the rear carpet is quite an impressive bit of moulded foam sound deadening in itself.

I have not tried but if you are looking to fill voids, you could consider this packaging

A cheaper way would be to use bin liners and builders expanding foam but that will take extra care.
Good luck!
