panamera or cayenne diesel
Discussion
evening all,
im in the market for the 3litre version of the above but wondered if anyone has some real world experiences of both cars. I`m tall at 6ft 6 and previously struggled with my cayman so looking for something a bit larger (but need diesel due to work commitments) Anyone gone from one to another? thanks...........

We've got a Cayenne S Diesel and I've had an S Diesel Demo from my OPC for a day. Both great cars but if you don't need the extra practicality of the Cayenne or want the driving position etc I'd go for a Panamera. Interior has got loads of space (I'm 6ft 2 and there was plenty of space behind me) and is a very, very nice place to sit...it's also a very nice car to drive. That said the Cayenne is also a really nice drive and much better than it should be for a 4x4....we've just taken ours to the Swiss Alps and back and it was just superb.
You don't say whether you're looking used or new. Obviously the new Cayenne has the updated interior from the Panamera but if used you've got the older interior but it's still very nice.
Spec is absolutely key on both cars....you need things like full leather and air suspension. If the choice was a better spec Cayenne or a basic spec Panamera I'd probably go with the former

Yes, Gunwharf Quays area!
Head to Porsche Portsmouth, ask for Chris Dawson and say Charles recommended. He should be able to sort you out!I just bought my fully loaded Cayenne from them, for me I like thw higher driving position of the Cayenne and IMO prefer the looks over thw pana
Good info thanks,
Sorry should have said used - budget 35k so probably 13, 14 plates?
It's just me and the missus so room not needed, bar a couple of road bikes but think the pana could accommodate that.
Likewise, just done a 1900 mile round trip to the Dolomites in my S4 Avant , but they don't have the same presence on the road as a porker!

I’d go Panamera then personally, not driven the previous gen model but lots on here have and have great things to say.
I’d be patient and be prepared to pay a bit more for a big spec car personally.
Assume you know that even if you don’t buy from an OPC it’s possible to get a Porsche warranty is that’s a concern/of interest? Most of the good specialist dealers can do this for you. Worth negotiating in the purchase.
Good luck !

Thanks Cheib,
Am i right in thinking thats under Porsche, it can be warranted to 15 years and upto 125k mileage?
Yes....subject to an inspection at an OPC every two years which combined with the warranty renewal will cost you £2000 plus. No idea what a Panny would cost.Am i right in thinking thats under Porsche, it can be warranted to 15 years and upto 125k mileage?
NB. The car has to be absolutely 100% OEM spec which includes the battery, tyres and any other consumable.
If you have a warranty claim and say you don't have "N rated" (Porsche approved tyres) fitted it's up to the OPC how they view that. If it's an electric seat motor they will probably ignore it but drive train related they might not.
