Well my first foray into poverty big pork was the 2007 Cayenne 957 4.8s and I loved it, acquired 6 months ago I quickly decided I wanted a GTS with PCM3 or even a turbo (not for performance but for the "extras".
A decent GTS is early to mid twenties, my car after costing £14k is probably worth £11 private and nineish as a trade in after spending £350 on a OPC service, £200 on renewing coolant pipes (OPC prices) and £1k on a propshaft and gearbox oil change (done after I decided to keep it).
When Chester serviced it they looked for every cash add on they could find and only got tyres (none N) and a few LEDS missing in the rear lights oh and the rear washer was semi but not fully blocked)
My decision was also helped by getting one call in 6 weeks on the trader .......
My car has the better "look" no chrome, decent wheels and air suspension so doesnt look too dated. It has the better bi xenon lights and sports exhaust as well but no leather dash or memory seats as the main omissions.
So after getting it inspected its in good nick, and to keep it for another year or so I've decided to invest in a new head unit with DAB and better nav at £1100, I might get the wheels refurbed and a bit of a polish for say another £300 making full cost £17k then keeping it - in comparison to swapping for a GTS its small change and will I really notice the extra 50 bhp? my commute is 3 miles and annual miles under 8k
If this decision bites me on the arse I will update whats happened but right now its sweet as a nut.

I have a similar one showing 100k miles, love it to bits but air suspension repair costs take some swallowing!

I had the indie and the OPC check the air before I decided to get the prop done etc and it had a compressor in 2015 with all legs seeming ok (they make it do press ups of a sort and time them) its on 80k if I get a year cost free from today I will be happy as a lease on similar would be £5k.

I had a car picked up by Porsche Reading recently. They arrived with a Cayenne and trailer. 3.0D car that had covered 280,000 miles so I would say they are pretty good at big mileages.

I have had a 2008 cayenne S from new. 220,000km with maybe 50,000 towing a5,000lb trailer. Generally tough as nails. V8 needed new camshaft lifters recently ( expensive) but everything works. Bodywork covered in nicks and scratches and I will drive it till it breaks.

I have owned a Dark Green Cayenne V6 3.6ltr 2008 on 98k miles on 21'' GTS alloys since October 2015. Must admit its the best screwed together car I think I have ever owned (its got £15k worth of extras). I went for the 3.6 petrol as I had read that because it was a VW engine it did not suffer from the liner issues that some of the V8 blocks had. Must admit I have been looking at the GTS or Turbo recently as I reckon they look the biz.

I went for 3.6 for same reasons. 2005, I'm two years into it, 122k miles. So far so good. Hoping it'll last another two or three years. They have to be one of the best value for money cars out there at the moment. Absolutely love mine. Interior is really hard wearing.

The cost to change 'up' though seems to be hugely disproportionate against the gains to be had.

There is a very rare 2010 957 turbo for sale with great provenance but it’s £25k, mine is worth £10k on a good day and I think I’d rarher spend £15k on a SL

We’ll Dave, looks like I’m in a similar predicament to you. Do I spend up to a grand retrofitting a high end double din unit. I promised myself I wouldn’t be spending any unnecessary money on on the car as I just won’t get it back.

I’ve opted for a £30 Bluetooth hands free kit that clips to the sun visor for now and see how I get on.

Other than that, mine needs a a decent valet and maybe a machine polish. I’ve got a Megs DA so I might spend a day doing that myself. Front tyres are down to about 2mm. They seem to be surprisingly reasonable. 275/40/20 can be had for under £100, Uniroyal Rainsport for around £120 and Pirelli’s for around £180.

Tyre price is good, black circles? Stereo is a hard one, there is no mid market cheaper unit from Alpine / Kenwood etc they all seem about £1k but you can get an adapter at £500 to stream to. Nothing seems good value.

Camskill for tyres. I have a tame mechanic so don’t pay for fitting.

I’m not after a double din with nav so circa £500 would get me a decent-ish Pioneer unit. All I’d want is DAB and Bluetooth. However I would lose mpg and trip functions. Which may not be a bad thing...

My 2006 Turbo S A is great and with a little 'chipping' is putting out 586bhp
great cars and great to drive but do find a good indi for servicing and repairs
you cant go wrong at the price - find a low mileage one and that will help - mine had 16k, yes 16k miles at 9 years old

Had a look, but couldn't find it, oddly. You based in Liverpool? The only one for sale with a private plate is in Victoria Docks, reg starts with a 'K'.

Quick update - Passed its MOT with two advisories on front pads have about 1k left (£515 OPC, £350 Indie, £150 Kwik Fit (delphi / Lockheed)
More bothersome is the n/s back light has lost 8 of 20 leds on the tail / stop light, MOT fail is 50%. So can I get this fixed anywhere nope (anyone know better), Porsche want £450, design 911 £300 Scrappy are few and far between and no guarantee it will be any better.

Also

Not sure whats happened here, just noticed the dull silver trim is now just plastic, it seems the cover has gone or the plating has washed off - I cant work out if its a part of the insert thats come off - might just get the insert painted as a new one is £150 and I cant work out how it fits (unless I have lost a part of the part - I have tha carrier not the finish bit). On the part thats left there are no holes for a fixing which makes me think its a part of the part I have lost.

Anyone cast any light on this?

This is the new part pic
