Porsche Cayenne thumping clunking noise when braking!!
Discussion
Hi there everyone!! New to the site and Hopefully someone can help me with my problem. I own a 03 Cayenne s recently noticed when I slow down to a traffic light or a roundabout I can hear a thumping clunking noise from the front of the car! But only after a 10-15 min . I changed the top control arm and tie rod ends but still there !! I was thinking maybe te cv or half saft ?? Any idea what you guys think!! Thanks everyone
Cayenne are generally clunk free. You didn't say whether the noise coincided with bumps, steering or drive torque; one from this list maybe?:
- loose lower arm bolts (geo adjuster /eccentrics)
- damaged/obstructed cooling fan
- loose headlights (there was a bulletin re: mounting bolts coming loose - do the beam patterns 'bounce' over bumps)
- centre prop bearing (not really at the front though)
- insecure undertray (gets a bit flappy if you leave out the front section after an oil change
)
