Cayenne 2004 Alarm - Battery drain
Discussion
Can the Thatcham alarm be isolated and disconnected permanently without upsetting the rest of the vehicle?
Is there a fuse or can the module be removed without stopping the central locking functioning?
I suspect that the alarm system is draining the battery flat in 3 days when left locked.
The alarm horn will not trigger and make a sound. I have a new horn fitted and it too doesn't trigger.
When the ignition is off and the alarm is not armed there is an audible pulse beat like a pump in the engine compartment.
The sound can also be heard from inside the cabin but obviously quieter,
The sound beat is every 15 to 45 seconds and is louder when the battery is fully charged and gets quieter as it runs down.
If I can disarm the alarm system I will find out if it is the cause of the pul;se beat and battery drain problem.

I did dicover the problem back in 2017 which was an after market Tracker system perhaps fitted new at the dealership when new.
When I got the vehicle the battery cells in the tracker unit were dead so the device sucked electricity from the main battery.
The tracker system was well hidden and as the contract with the original owner had expired the device was pinging out to comminicate with a satalite. No reply so it was signaling out all the time draining the beattery!
