Had a look at new Panamera Turbo..,massive improvement.
Discussion
The interior and dash are a massive improvement. No physical buttons and there is a nice click when you touch a button on the screen. Large clear display, nice little steering wheel and lovely seats. Huge rear lift gate, rear seats configured for two passengers. much better looking outside...rear wheel 21 x 315..almost as big as my RS. Twin turbo V8. Like the new tail lights too. Should be fun to drive.......though have not had a saloon for 16 years. Will be a big hit for Porsche.
Photobucket was down. The photos are now showing.
OP. Are you going to swap a cayenne for this? A friend of mine runs a Panamera and a RRS. He is thinking about trading them both in and getting a Panamera for family duties and a Macan as the other car. I wonder if the new package can replace what he has.

Nope...have got my name on the list for the next gen Cayenne Turbo S which should be great for towing..as I do a lot of that.OP. Are you going to swap a cayenne for this? I had a good look round one at the PEC about six weeks ago, it's a brilliant car. Absolutely love it. Sadly I don't think rear space means it's viable as a family car, I'm relatively tall and I don't think there's enough room behind me for my kids. (My kids are still on booster seats so take up more room than a teenager would).
My OPC has its launch event this Thursday which I can't make but by fluke I'm dropping my 997 GTS in for it's MOT on Friday morning so will hopefully have a chance to have another drool then!

New Executive model launched which answers my rear leg room issue....if they do the "Shooting Brake Executive" I can't see me being able to resist!
I've seen the new Panamera, and much improved for sure, but still not convinced that the styling is resolved - better, but still a big car with some awkward angles.
If the 3-door concept, shown a few years ago, is developed, then I think this is the derivative that will really excite the market. Also, understand there is a smaller variant (BMW 3-5 size), that's only a couple of years away, that could be Porsche's most successful model ever.

I drove the new diesel 4S, the petrol 4S and the V8 turbo at the Porsche Experience centre on Friday. There's no question, the new car is extremely impressive and incredibly capable.
I started out in the diesel and Porsche have done a great job with the flexibility of the engine and spent lots of time on refinement. The car is as quick as one would expect and must be a superb GT but didn't have much character.
Up next was the petrol 4S (the new 2.9 litre V6 turbo) and the difference in turn-in between this and the diesel was massive; this car felt far, far lighter and more responsive. The performance was probably just right and it was an easy car to get into and drive hard. The noise was ok but definitely a big step down from the previous generation V8.
My last two stints were in turbos, the first of which had a sports exhaust. After the 4S, I had to get used to the increase in power but that didn't take too long and within a couple of laps, I felt quite confident with the car. Never has a 550bhp car felt so benign and drama free! The turn-in was better than the diesel but not quite as sharp as the petrol 4S, which is probably to be expected. The sports exhaust definitely adds some character.
Getting back into my GTS afterwards was a mixed experience. The naturally aspirated engine is much more soulful than any of the new models and any lack of torque is made up for by better response and noise. That said, the newer car has moved on significantly in every other area and the body control, electronics, gearbox and rear/three quarter visibility have addressed any shortcomings the previous model might have had.
Hopefully they'll make another Panamera GTS.

I took a new Panny 4s for a testdrive saturday and was very impressed. The interior is imho the nicest i've ever sat in and the exterior was a huge improvement over the previous gen,it also had that optical illusion of appearing smaller than its predecesser.
Obviously its never going to sound as good as the nasp V8 but it still sounded muscular and purposeful. The performance was the most impressive aspect and at no point did i feel the need for more power. My testdrive one had most of the expensive options eg nighttime assist, massaging seats and surround view which were lovely so when i come to spec my 4 hybrid its going to need a hell of lot of willpower on my behalf to exercise self restraint to avoid blowing my budget to pieces!.
