Hi Chaps,
Have the chance to buy this 944 from a client of ours, been sat for years. Bodywork looks straight enough (if a little rough round the edges), but would need to check sills. My concern is the engine knock see video, is it worth taking a punt on (say sub £1k) or forget it?

Thanks Alec

Depends on how much work you will do yourself and are you handy stripping down the block. Yes, sills can be best part of £1200. Any whine or knocks from transaxle? The early 944s are not particularly quick by modern standards (even hot hatches of the time) or that easy to modify tuning wise.

Well balanced to drive with suspension refresh and tyres etc. The car looks ok with the black fuchs / retro square dash. Make an offer under £500 ;-)

Thanks for the reply!
Not really after performance, I have the Supercharged Jag for that, but want something with good handling and retro appeal. Sadly its a auto... It is listed on a company disposal auction site, bidding is at £560 at the moment, so not really worth much more?
I am quite hands-on, I do most the work on my cars myself, engine rebuilding would be new to me though...

That sounds like the flex plate has failed, gonna cost you 1000 to 2000 to fix....

I know its a auction car but revving from cold (6000rpm) and stopping the video before he brakes and turns...rattly engine?!

£400 surely?

Was willing to take a punt on it if is was very cheap, current bid is £700.
