Warning - don't buy a Panamera S e-hybrid
Discussion
Hi All,
Felt like i just had to make sure no one else made the same mistake that i did.
I bought a brand new Panamera S e-hybrid last year and am so disappointed with the car. The hybrid system really isn't ready for the mass market yet. The power delivery in non-linear as the instant torque of the electric engine tries to compete with the petrol engine and the tiptronic gearbox shifts are anything but smooth for what should be a luxury cruiser.
I really feel like just selling the car and moving on, but this is the first name i've ever bought a brand new car and is by far the most i've ever spent on a car. I really can't get my head round the huge amount of money i'm going to lose in just one year as this car was going to be a keeper.
Is there anybody else out there with the same model. I'd love to hear your experiences.
Cheers
Pav

Hi Pav, I got one last year but am generally happy although I agree that it sometimes feels that it isn't market ready as at least mine has had quite a bit going wrong with it (mainly noise issues). Had various Panameras before and wouldn't generally agree that this is worse, it is - as you'd expect - just a whole lot different.
As to the power delivery - I only ever had problems with that when the car had a fault (faulty brake switch apparently), it then did really bad downshifts during kick-down and the electric motor felt totally out of sync with the petrol engine under hard acceleration.
The petrol engine itself is a dog but together it works. 280 kph (and more with a bit of time, backwind, downhill and correct moon phase) is no problem which I think is pretty phenomenal for a car with that set up.
The concept only works if you can plug charge though. Also, the Porsche charger is a bit puny, I now have a 11KW wallbox (non Porsche) at work and that charges in about 45 mins and I also seem to get more electric range from that.
Oh - one last bit: this is the first Panamera where I seem to get sympathy from the general public!
