I am looking at a 928 that has some pretty significant engine damage, about 30 miles south of Bath.

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic (some pretty intense work may be required, including rebuild) in this area (I cannot get there myself).

I'd like to ask them their price for inspecting and appraising the vehicle, on the proviso that if their quote for repairs is OK, I will give them the work.

Paul Anderson in Stroud works almost exclusively on 928s, so he'd probably be a good person to talk to (although he can be very hard to get hold of). However I think he and many other mechanics would want to get the car to their workshop and partially disassemble the engine to inspect the damage before committing to anything more than a rough estimate. Paul can arrange collection, I've heard of him sending a recovery for other stranded cars.
