944 S2 OEM engine mounts
Discussion
Hi, just took ownership of a black 944 S2. Its my first Porsche and i'm very much enjoying it.
I have however diagnosed through a wobbly speedo, clonking steering and a rad hose touching the side of the engine bay, that I need to get the engine mounts sorted. Having read through a number of blogs, I think the OEM ones are the way to go rather than solid, for longevity.
Is there any alternative other than Porsche for this type of OEM part?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I have fitted the Meyle versions from ECP to both of my 944's without any issues, although I can't comment on longevity.
It has been said before that only ones bought from OPC are hydraulic, however, some time ago a guy on Tipec cut one of the Meyle ones open and found that it was indeed hydraulically filled. They may or may not be equal quality to OE, but it seems they are hydraulic.
It is important to make sure that the correct bolts are used, the original mounts used a longer bolt and spacer/washer, the later style mounts ommitted the spacer and used shorter bolts. These are also available from ECP so worth ordering them at the same time (two per mount). Also, make sure the heat shield on the exhaust side is fitted.

Speak to Max at http://www.frazerpart.com/ he can supply the hydraulic OEM mounts and knows more about our cars than a generic salesman at Eurocarparts will.
