As per the title really, has anyone had their Cayenne fitted up to effectively use an ipod? How much does it cost? Can you operate the ipod from the PCM?
Which version PCM do you have? Does the car have Bose? When I first got my 2005 Boxster S (with PCM2.1), I bought one of these together with the associated phone kit:

It is easy to fit yourself and it enables the PCM2.1 to 'see' your iPod as a CD changer. The drawbacks are:
1. It's quite expensive.
2. You still have to use the very dated PCM2.1 interface.
3. Interface problems are compounded by the fact it is much harder to control a large capacity iPod as a CD changer than it is a CD changer!
I found that I just ended up putting it on random as choosing individual tracks was too much hassle, so last year, I removed the PCM2.1 altogether and put this in:

It is a complete night and day difference. It has two interfaces, Pioneer's own AppRadio and Apple CarPlay. I have never used the former, but CarPlay works very well. It is very slick indeed, especially if you are used to PCM2.1. Equivalent Android units are available.
The disadvantages of this are:
1. You have to live with an aftermarket looking unit. I usually hate this (which is why I resisted so long), but this unit is effectively just a screen so it's improved look over the PCM2.1 offsets the fact it is aftermarket for me.
2. If you have Bose (and want to keep it) you will need a £180 adaptor to get this unit to work in the MOST loop.
I paid £520 for this (£320 for the unit, £180 for the MOST adaptor, £20 on bezel to match the interior) and it is the best upgrade I could have made to my car.
