Hi there,

Just wanted to say hello to all the front-engined folk.

I've just bought a Japanese-market '91 928 S4 with 30-odd thousand miles.

It's been a dream of mine to own a 928 since I was 5 years old. They are the car that made me, at that age, want to become a car designer.

So, along with my '92 W140 600 SEL, my two childhood dreams have now come true and I expect I need never buy another car again... famous last words.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know you through here, and perhaps for real some time.

Cheers

Drew

Welcome! Congrats on the car, get some pics up.

I'm afraid this isn't the busiest of forum areas, but there's normally some interesting discussion nonetheless.

Cheers thumbup

I have a 1990 928 S4 which I am thoroughly chuffed to bits with so must say congratulations to you for buying what is a truly fantastic bit of kit, now get yourself over to the www.928.org.uk website to see how to maintain it.

Do you have a garage local to you that specialises in the 928 models because to be frank, the 928 was discontinued quite a few years ago and not many mechanics have experience of working on them and that includes OPC. Things like using the correct type of oil are rather important. So don't go putting Mobil 1 oil in it. The considered choice for long term reliability is Valvoline VR1.

If it's fitted with an auto transmission then check the flex plate tension before catastrophic engine damage is caused. Most non 928 specialists are unaware of this issue until it's too late!

Not sure whether you are aware that it is the 40th anniversary of the 928 next year so quite a few events are planned to celebrate the occasion, should be a good year.

Finally, let's have some pics to drool over smile

I sold my immaculate GT earlier this year following 5 yrs of ownership. It remains a GT that has been unequalled and I have owned hundreds
of Porsches over the years. " As fast as anything as comfortable, as comfortable as anything as fast ".
