PLZ. advice my poor PCM!
Discussion
Hello PH expert you~
i have a 2003 cayenne turbo, my best friend.
a month ago, message "System error: amplifier, CD changer not available" was represented on PCM window.
So I tried a test using several methods as giving advice in the forum.
press 1,4,8.
replacing fuse 9.11.12
and lock car-wait 1minute-unlock car-.....start method..
But I was given up for repair with the same symptoms, it is now the panel is turned off altogether. I can not sleep because of PCM stress.
NOW my cay's symptom is
1. PCM display window black out.
but anytime turn on freely,(Sometimes looking at a tunnel or at night seems weak light in the display.)
2. hear the sound (like tick, tick, tick) in the rear trunk of the all day(maybe cd changer)
RENNISTIAN expert~

Had a similar issue with mine, took it in for a diagnostic check.
Cost £100 for the check, to be told logic board needed repair/replacement at a cost of £950, but would only come with a 90 day warranty.
Got charged another £60 when told them didn't want to proceed, for them to clip the unit back. Ended up buying a new unit from OPC with a nice discount and 2 year warranty. I looked at carplay units and an android solution, but wanted something plug and play as I had rear camera and voice command on my PCM.

Mine did the same as this last year - did some net research and a firm called Cartronics near Brooklands came up whom I suspect your previous respondent used too as they charge about £90 to diagnose. I had a similar choice pay about a grand for the fit of another refurbed Porsche Unit or a bit more for a new updated unit.
To be fair the Porsche Unit was rubbish and showed its age now and I decided to cough up the bit more which was quite a bit more with fitting but a got a very good Pioneer that brings the car up to date in terms of infotainment - i.e. touchscreen, bluetooth, proper Nav with postcode input and rerouting on traffic updates, DAB although this is a waste of space IMHO, spped limit display with an annoying voice message before i found how to turn it off and I also have two leads fitted if I want to plug in an ipod and or charge the phone. You can bluetooth music straight off your phone which I really like.
Don't be tempted to buy a second hand one off ebay I think they have to be coded to work in your car and you may just end up with the same problem. I sold my busted one for £55 for spares on ebay.
Sorry probably not what you wanted to hear
My car is for sale at the moment there are some pictures of the unit in the add here http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

Welcome, hope you find a better solution. If you plan to keep the car (as I did last year doh) then the upgrade is just that but a very good one, even though it's expensive but everything touching the Porsche tends to be large £££s. It's streets ahead of the PCM2 and will help you enjoy the car more!
Good luck
