944 - possible purchase and parts availability
Discussion
Go for it!
Get the best car you can get and watch out for rust especially on the sills. Take a picture of the inner sills via the vents in the B post. This will help you see any issues looming.
The spares scene is good and availability of new and used parts is still great and the prices are not mad yet.
Prices of the cars is going up already - so get the best car you can as soon as possible.
Good luck!

There's a good indi in Grimethorpe.
Thanks for that, I'll check them out when I eventually find a good one. What are they called (if you want to PM me)?Drove up to Scotland at the weekend to look at a red 944 S2. Nice car, but had been stood for about 5 years in a garage and had just had a full respray.
I was a bit worried about the possible longer term issues with it being stood for so long. There was a leaking brake pipe and the underneath was very rusty, so I didn't go ahead with the purchase.
The search goes on
It's not an S2 but I'm considering selling my 1988 S.
Got a couple of minor things to fiddle with before I let it go as I've finally gotten around to replacing the clutch slave cylinder so I can make proper use of the freshly replaced clutch!
Took it for a run with some of the South West PH lot at the weekend and remembered how good it was but I have another one that needs some money and attention
