I have a few questions before he pushes the button next week:

1. Realistically what kind of discount should he be pushing for, of course i understand he is unlikely to get much but are we talking £1000, £2000 or is it a tough ask for a full tank of juice?
2. Is there any must have options he is missing out on here, he really wants the car to look and feel special which is why he's gone for a lot of aesthetic options.
3. Engine wise we think the 3.0 V6 is the best option as he is going to be doing 20k PA on mostly motorway but also wants to be able to enjoy driving the car when needed, take to Europe with the family etc.
4. Is it worth considering leasing over a cash purchase? At a glance this car does not seem to be the kind of car you would get on a deal.

Its worth noting this is a personal purchase so we dont think its worth considering the Hybrid.

Appreciate any tips, advice etc.

Thanks

I thought I read that there is a new model out next year (more than just a facelift, a whole new platform - 3rd generation ) ???????

If so i'd be asking for a big discount .. I would say £7k plus.... or buying nearly new.

I strongly advise adding Air-suspension and 18-way seats - I couldn't buy a Cayenne without either now. Heated steering wheel is another option I have used a lot lately, as is parking heater (bit pricey though) - nice to come out to a toasty warm and defrosted car first thing in the morning.

Should look a nice car smile

At that spec/price level Air+PASM is worth having, especially with 21" wheels.

I'd agree about 18 way memory seats (adaptive?)

Don't know the current market, but I would have thought at least 5% off

Thanks for the feedback so far. From what i'm led to believe Porsche don't really offer any discounts on new cars, is that absolute tosh?

Thanks

Anyone else have any further insight into Porsche discounts on the Cayenne Diesel?

Cheers

Shop around; you don't have to buy directly through Porsche. Try the likes of Car Wow who will get you discounts without even having to ask the question.

I would always lease; i would never tie up such a huge amount of cash into a depreciating asset. Finance also equals a bigger discount, allowing you to add a few options (i'd also go for the heated steering wheel, air suspension and adaptive seats).

The V6 Diesel has a surprising turn of pace and actually sounds decent too. We have one with 72,000 miles now (in 4 yrs) and it has been a fantastic all round car.

Ask if there are any stock cars about - We got 10% off a 987 Cayman which fortunately had the spec we wanted.

Remember dealers claim VAT back on demos. Big margin for them.

I'd swap the mobile phone prep for the full-weight telephone module

Air suspension a must as too is the 18 way seats. Heated steering wheel and roof rails I think aswell.
Discount....wow if you get any then let me know...ive just ordered one that comes to 97k and I got squat except for some accessories at cost price.
Porsche isnt on Carwow the last time I looked. I did find one site that could get me 1k off list but to be honest when your paying this amount then buy from a dealer and pay the extra 1k.
I would pay outright myself, the finance takes in consideration the depreciation and you pay over 7% interest so you would be a fool to pay that in my opinion.
Car looks good by the way!
Good luck!

Surprised they didn't offer you a deposit contribution when you threatened to pay cash.

If you are spending that kind of money think about the Diesel S. It's just brilliant, 850nm of torque- more than a Mclaren P1. At least test drive one before you pull the trigger on the V6. It's a very different drive.

I had the 4.2 D for 18 months and now have the 3.0D, I have to say the 3.0 D is plenty quick enough the only real thing missing is the exhaust note!

If there we two debadged cars alongside each other, a 4.2d standard car and a 3.0d with extras to the value of the 4.2 I'd pick the 3.0d with the extras.

Sorry I didnt say but it is a Diesel S and I agree the engine is amazing! Sound, the pull etc. Seeing as the Cayenne is a family car and I cant have a sports car and a family car then this is a great compromise, I think anyway.

Yes, I approached the dealer with independent finance arranged with Oracle, effectively making me a cash buyer and they offered me £2k to use their own finance. I'll transfer it to a better rate at the earliest opportunity.
