I have a stunning early 944 with 30,000 Miles on the clock, bought new in the tropics so never seen salt and in fabulous condition, worth about 10/12 K pounds here. My daughter lives in Norway and graduates next year, I can get the car into Norway duty free, so I am thinking about giving it to her as a graduation present.
Car is RHD but has a KM speedo, so all I need for a LHD conversion is a sq dash and a steering rack?
Any body done this, does the peedle box swap? can you invert the steering rack?
Any suggestion on a source for the parts?
Thanks

Wiring loom and a willingness to bodge and bastardise everything. Look under the bonnet and you'll see that the battery is in a different place in a different bodyshell.

You'll need a RHD wiring loom and cross member. The physical work required is enormous and the parts old and dirty.

Forget it.

Nice idea for a present. But quickest, easiest way to convert it would be sell RHD 944, buy LHD 944.

Simon is right this is a much bigger nightmare than say an auto to manual swap. Simple question but what are you going to do to mount the steering column and wheel? Have a look at a what is there once the dash is out of the way and you will see what I mean, this is a job that requires a certain amount or bodyshell remanufacture not as simple as just swapping parts around. Its not impossible but unless doing it all yourself in a well equipped workshop will cost a fortune in labour.

Thanks for the replies, I'm not so worried about physical work, I can get top mechanics/fabricators for 5 pound an hour, didn't know it need a new cross member, and battery relocating, but I can get any of the fabrication done very easily and cheaply, do I need a different steering rack?
Parts availability is not easy, been looking in Ebay Germany and can't find a dash board, parts are more of a show stopper than the work I am not paying European rates for labour
