Cayenne 2008 3.6 WIPER PROBLEM

Would welcome any constructive comments on issue I have. The intermittent wipe function does not work at all on the front wipers. I assume as they will work on normal speed or if you flick the switch down then it is not a fuse or relay problem. Am I looking at replacing the complete wiper switch stalk or does anyone have a cheaper idea?
