Cayenne S 4.8 V8 - Oil Leak Detection
Discussion
A little help from those who are mechanically minded if you could please .....
I suspect that an oil leak on the front left of the engine (looking from the front of the car) is coming from the timing chain cover gasket. Can this gasket be replaced with the engine in situ, or it has to be removed? Roughly how many hours work?
2 pictures attached. 1 viewing just above the oil filter towards the engine. Another, viewing just underneath the crank shaft and above the heat exchanger.
I think that I can rule out the crank seal leaking as the leak is specifically to the left, but I have not ruled out the oil filter leaking and oil blowing upwards as the lower plastic engine cover is not present.
